Vítor is a Professor Auxiliar at Universidade da Maia in Sport Management. His research is focused on sport event leveraging, media framing and sport media rights, and how sport participation can be used to achieve health benefits. His research has been published in highly ranked international journals, including Tourism Management, European Sport Management Quarterly, Journal of Sport Management, and Sport Management Review. He has also presented his research at sport management conferences in Europe, the United States, Australia, and New Zealand.

Vítor completed his PhD at the University of Queensland in Australia with a thesis entitled, “Leveraging sport team events for tourism benefits”. He has previously worked as a lecturer and researcher at University of QueenslandBond University, and Cardiff Metropolitan University.

Vítor was also a sport journalist for a decade and covered both Men´s and Women´s World Cups from 2010 to 2015, and the last three Olympic Games as a commentator.
