UBI and CIDESD develop a study on roller hockey in collaboration with Sporting Clube de Portugal

As part of an ongoing doctoral project at Cidesd – Center for Research in Sports, Health and Human Development and at the University of Beira Interior, on the characterization of effort and training programming in Roller Hockey, António Ferraz followed the last two weeks of Senior men’s team of Sporting Clube de Portugal.
As part of his Research line, António Ferraz monitored all training units and games, reporting to the technical team the individual and collective response of the athletes. In terms of research, this work will seek a greater understanding of the effect of manipulating training exercises on actions and physical demands, as well as the impacts on players in physiological terms. This collaboration between CIDESD and the Sporting Clube de Portugal Sports Performance Department demonstrates the importance of using new training control and evaluation methods to improve the performance of elite roller hockey athletes.
All the work carried out over this period was supervised by scientific advisors, Professors Bruno Travassos Science & Futsal, João Valente dos Santos and Pedro Duarte Mendes.
Throughout the development of his scientific project, António Ferraz has already accompanied the teams, from the National Team of Portugal, Barcelona and Sporting Clube de Portugal, with the main objective of identifying which parameters best discriminate the training dynamics and the performance improvements of the elite roller hockey athletes, in order to respond effectively to the demands of this modality.
