Ricardo Ferraz was born in Covilhã. Graduated from University of Porto in Sport and Physical Education in 2005, he was supported by a grant from the Science and Technology Foundation (2011-2015), concluding the Ph.D in Sport Sciences at University of Beira Interior in 2016 with the final grade of “Excellent”. Currently he is member of the Research Center in Sports Sciences, Health Sciences and Human Development and he is holding a postdoctoral grant under the project Symbiotic Technology for Societal Efficiency Gains: Deus ex Machina (CIDESD/UTAD).

His research interests are transversal. Recently he has studied a psychophysiological perspective of understanding and interpreting the pacing  phenomenon, particularly in team sports. This research is recognized as relevant by the peers, as evidenced by the recent articles published in high-ranked journals. Ricardo Ferraz is also author of other scientific papers published in national and international journals and also several peer-reviews papers.

In 2016/2017, he was awarded the first prize by Portuguese Olympic Committee – COP / Millennium BCP Foundation for the best scientific work in the field of Sports Training.
