Élvio Rúbio Gouveia is Vice-President of the Institute of Interactive Technologies of the LARSyS and the Head of the Department of Physical Education and Sport at the University of Madeira, where he is an Assistant Professor. ERG collaborates with the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies on Gerontology and Vulnerability, University of Geneva. In the last five years, he was involved in the supervision of 8 doctoral theses. ERG holds a Ph.D. in Sport Sciences, Bachelor and Master in Physical Education and Sports from the University of Madeira (2011, 2007, 2003).

Élvio Gouveia has participated as principal investigator in 3 funded projects and five as a research team member, selecting more than 30 candidates for research grants. Élvio Gouveia as been working on developing and evaluating strategies to promote physical activity, fitness, and quality of life in children, adults, and elderly adults. He has recently been researching Sports Performance Optimization and Applied Technologies.
