André Novo has a degree in Nursing from the School of Health of the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança since 2005. He began his professional activity as a nurse at the Hospital of Macedo de Cavaleiros and later at the Hospital Unit of Bragança. He became a Rehabilitation Nursing Specialist at the O’Porto Nursing School at 2009 and since 2012 he has a Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Nursing from the School of Health of the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança. In 2009 he presented and defended his PhD work in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences presented to the University of León on the implementation of a physical exercise program in hemodialysis patients.

He has developed research in the area of Rehabilitation and Prescription of Physical Exercise in specific pathologies, with publication of books and several scientific articles.

He is, since 2009, Adjunct Professor of the Bragança Superior School of Health, where he is Vice-President of the Scientific Technical Council and Director of the Nursing Degree.

He is President of the Portuguese Association of Kidney Disease Rehabilitation.
