PhD student receives Honourable Mention in the António Paula Brito Prize

Susana Diz, a PhD student in Sports Sciences, received an Honourable Mention in the ‘António Paula Brito Research Award – Young Researcher’. The honour was awarded by the Portuguese Society of Sports Psychology, with the aim of promoting the development of research in the field of sports psychology in Portugal.
Susana Diz has been a PhD student at the University of Beira Interior (UBI) since 2023, being supervised by Raul Antunes (Polytechnic Institute of Leiria) and co-supervised by Aldo Matos da Costa, a lecturer in the Department of Sports Sciences at UBI.
The Honourable Mention was awarded during the XXV Conference of the Portuguese Society of Sports Psychology, held in Rio Maior on November 8 and 9, an event at which Susana Diz presented the work she did as part of her PhD. The paper presented was entitled ‘The role of sport in the quality of life and well-being of people with intellectual and developmental difficulties’.
Susana Diz’s work was part of a group of 83 papers (conferences, symposia and free papers), which were attended by various professionals in the field, including psychologists, sports and exercise psychologists, physical education teachers, coaches, exercise technicians, sports managers, higher education lecturers and researchers, as well as students, athletes and physical exercise practitioners.
The symposium’s central theme was ‘Uniting Generations, Defining New Paths, Sustaining the Future of Sport Psychology in Portugal’.
