Paulo Nuno Vieira is Vice-Rector and Director of the Academic Model at Universidade Europeia. Since 2012, he has held a doctorate in Human Motricity with a specialty in Health and Physical Condition from the Faculty of Human Kinetics. In 2004 he completed a master’s degree in Exercise and Health and in 1998 a degree in Sports Sciences at Faculty of Human Kinetics.  He has experience of teaching in higher education in the field of sport at various institutions. He has been a Physical Education teacher, basketball coach and trainer for over 30 years. He has held management and coordination positions in various areas: i) exercise and health, in scientific and community programs and in the Faculty of Human Kinetics’ Exercise and Health Laboratory, in the treatment of obesity such as the PESO program (Promotion of Exercise and Health in Obesity) and RNCP (National Weight Control Register); ii) sports training, in the Lisbon Basketball Association, the Portuguese Basketball Federation and different sports clubs; and iii) school management, as president of the General Council and coordinator of a disciplinary group.

In recent years, Paulo Vieira has focused his attention on academic management and on teaching methodologies in higher education, structuring and implementing various pedagogical practices in the programs under his coordination, namely Problem-based Learning, Simulation-based Learning, Research-based Learning and Challenge-based Learning, which are innovative teaching tools that empower students in a more practice-oriented learning process.
