Otília Monteiro Fernandes is a psychologist and has a master’s degree in Psychology from the University of Coimbra. She has a PhD with a thesis on the personality and development of siblings and only children, and is an Associate Professor at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD), Portugal. Her research has focused on family and sibling relations. Author of the books Semelhanças e diferenças entre irmãos (Lisboa: Climepsi, 2002) and Essere figlio unico – essere fratello (Roma: Koinè, 2008), recently coordinated the book A família portuguesa no século XXI (Lisboa: Parsifal, 2015). Member of the Portuguese Association of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy for Couple and Family and the International Association of Couple and Family Psychoanalysis.
