Paula Mota was born in Porto (1970). In 2003 finished her Ph.D. in Sport Sciences – Exercise, aging and oxidative stress at the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD). Presently holds a position of Auxiliary Professor at the UTAD, with habilitation for teaching and researching Exercise Physiology in bachelor and Aging Biology in Master courses. She is the director of the bachelor in Psychomotricity Rehabilitation in UTAD and is a coordinator of CIDESD Geron research community.

Her research activity is mainly focused in Biological and psychological benefits of physical exercise in elderly people, having published several papers in peer-review journals, and book chapters. Recently, she has been developed research using Emotive technology to understand emotions during different types of exercises or therapies.
