Júlio Cardoso Martins is a full-time professor of Sports Pedagogy, Teaching Physical Education and a PhD seminar at the University of Beira Interior.

He is a researcher at CIDESD in the area of Physical Fitness in Special Populations, namely childhood obesity in a school context and he is coordinator of the PRO-Lúdico project, a program for the prevention and reduction of childhood obesity in collaboration with the Cova da Beira Hospital in Covilhã and School Clusters in the Beira Interior region. He is the author of more than 120 national and international publications.
