Daniel Marinho is a Full Professor at the University of Beira Interior (UBI) and director of CIDESD. His academic background has been developed in different institutions, providing him with a broad vision of teaching and research. In 2013, he receives the Academic Title of Dr. Habil in Sport Sciences from the UBI, in 2009, a Ph.D. in Sport Sciences from the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, and in 2004, a Degree in Sport Sciences and Physical Education from the University of Porto. He has been teaching at UBI since 2008. From 2009 to 2015, he was the Chair of the Department of Sport Sciences, and since 2013, he has been the Director of the Ph.D. Program. His scientific profile is recognized for his expertise in sport sciences, especially in the field of swimming biomechanics and performance optimization. Through his active participation as a principal investigator and researcher in several funded R&D projects, he has authored numerous scientific papers, book chapters, and technical reports, contributing to the academic literature and advancing the field of sport sciences (Scopus h-index: 37). He also plays an important role in mentoring young researchers, guiding them in their academic pursuits and research careers. He has fostered interdisciplinary collaboration among researchers, coaches, and sport scientists to address complex challenges in sport performance. In fact, he was one of the pioneers in using mathematical modeling with computational fluid dynamics approaches to interpret complex data sets and predict swimming performance outcomes. He has been actively engaged in educational outreach programs aimed at disseminating scientific knowledge and best practices worldwide. This collaboration includes working with industry partners and sports organizations to conduct performance testing and validation studies for new products and technologies. He is also involved in educational and research consulting, working as an academic expert for various organizations and countries.
