Cláudia Barata is currently a PhD student in Sport Sciences at University of Maia under a doctoral scholarship funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology. The main research of her doctorate aims to explore the role of exercise in improving the physical and mental health of individuals living with Familial Amyloidotic Polyneuropathy (FAP), a rare disease that is highly prevalent in Portugal. Her academic background includes a BSc in Sport Sciences and a MSc in High Performance Training, both obtained at Faculty of Human Kinetics – University of Lisbon. Her research interests include both Exercise and Health and Sport Training, with a special emphasis on football. Besides academia and scientific research, she is passionate about the Body, Mind & Soul philosophy and she is currently developing her knowledge in the field of holistic therapies. She has work experience in football coaching, sports sales and personal training and she is an active member of the Portuguese green party.
