António Vicente is Professor of Sport Sciences at University of Beira Interior, Portugal. His career spans both Sport Sciences and Education. At University of Lisbon he earned an M.A. in Sport Science in 2002, then received an M.S. in Sport Science at University of Beira Interior in 2005, and received a Ph.D. in Sport Science and Physical Education at University of Madeira in 2007.

His Sport Science and Education research interests lie at the intersection of training and coaching methodology and pedagogy, mainly in collective sports with great focus on football. Puzzled with the difficulties posed to the knowledge integration and changes in the praxis of coaching and activities orientation that could be useful for everyone, António Vicente tries to contradict an empirical coaching and educational perspective and proposes a conceptual rupture to bring down the gap between science and coaching/education.
