Anabela Vitorino is Professor at the Sport Science School of Rio Maior (ESDRM) of the Polytechnic Institute of Santarém (IPSantarém) since October 2002 and member of the Research Center in Sport, Health and Human Development (CIDESD) since November 2019.

She holds a PhD in Sport Sciences from the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD) since November 2018, with thesis “Passion, Motivation and Subjective Well-Being in Adapted Sport. The Physical Activity for All to the Sports Income”.

She also holds a EuroPsy-European Certificate in Psychology by European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations (July, 2019) and practical degree in Special Psychopedagogy (Specialist) (May, 2012) at Polytechnic Institute of Santarém, Polytechnic Institute of Leiria and Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra.

Currently, is professor of physical activity and lifestyle bachelor at ESDRM-IPSantarém, and teaches behavior change curricular units, adapted physical activity and sport for people with disabilities units in other courses and master degrees.

She is also member of the scientific area of sports and exercise psychology (ESDRM), and effective member of the Portuguese Psychologists Order (OPP), the Portuguese Society of Sport Psychology (SPPD) and the Portuguese Paralympic Committee (Plenary Assembly).

Her current research interests and her academic research field is linked to motivational determinants in sport and exercise and behavioural change, with special focus on sedentary behaviour, physical activity, healthy lifestyles, well-being, exercise adherence, drop-out and persistence in sport, and specifically in sport for people with disabilities.
